Step 2 LifeStyle Dream Kitchen Review

I'll make it quick. Here are the reasons I like this kitchen for my kids (ages 4 & 2).
- It's big.
The play area is large enough that 2 kids can play together without really fighting each other. It's also tall enough that my 4 year old who is really tall for his age doesnt have to squat down or play on his knees.
- Lots of stuff to do
This thing really has so many hiding places for dishes & food. It also has a lot of great electronic components. A working button panel for the microwave and the oven. A working cordless phone. A burner that sizzles and boils. It even has light placed under the cabinet to shine down on the sink.
- Super Easy to assemble
Not sure what other reviewers are talking about, but the assembly for this kitchen is minimal, and the instructions didn't seem that difficult to follow. Super easy. Takes approx an hour or so to complete, if that. There are basically 3 big pieces that screw together, and then smaller items like shelf knobs, etc. Stickers are a cinch too. You don't need the stickers if you're that lazy, but it does complete the look.
- It's lightweight.
Though the kitchen is big and playable, since it's plastic, it's really light so it's easy to move back and forth to play areas if need be. That doesn't mean the kids will be throwing it around or anything. It is substantial, but it's an easy move for a Dad.
- Great style/ and play design
The kitchen has a cool look and seems like the high-end kitchens without the hefty pricetag. The layout of fridge, oven, microwave, sink, etc is just done really well. I think it is a good middle ground for those wanting something better than the cheap cheap stuff, but can't justify spending an arm and a leg on a fancy kitchen.
- Great accessories
The kitchen comes with plates, bowls, pots & pans, pitcher, some flatware, and a few food items. The kids are basically ready to play because it comes with so much stuff already.
Ok. Here are the complaints.
- Screwing the backsplash into the top plastic piece is slightly irritating because there were no screw holes. I basically hammered the screw in and used my electric tools to make the screwing easier.
- due to the nature of the plastic, the white cabinet doors at the top of kitchen were slightly warped so when they close, they aren't flush to the kitchen cabinet. This doesn't change functionality, and the 2 kids aren't going to ever notice, or care, but I'm a designer that notices the nit-pickey details. Just an observation.
Ok, so having said all that, here are some things i'd recommend if you buy this
- buy more fake food. This set only comes with a pizza, and some pieces to build a hamburger. Not much really. I got a 90 piece food set at Target for .
- buy a couple packs of AA & AAA batteries.
All in all, this is a fantastic kitchen, and I think any kid that would get this as a gift would be extremely happy.

Truely A Dream Kitchen - Woman of the Sun -
I bought this for my 2 year old for Christmas, today is the 1st of January and she has been cooking every single day since Christmas. Absolutely lovely!
Assembly time was great, 40 mins. The countertop is the perfect height for her and she moves around quite intuitively. Everything seems to be located in the right place.
This kitchen provides hours of great imaginative play!
